Woeful Timberwolves - Who's Fault

The firing of Randy Wittman is just another tidbit to the Minnesota Timberwolves Saga. Getting rid of Wittman will not solve the problems. Even though Wittman's record as an NBA head coach is not impressive, coaches do not win or lose basketball games; players do.

Kevin McHale is now the interim head coach; he also no longer the VP of Basketball operations. McHale's other stint as interim head coach was fairly successful; The TimberWolves went 19-12 with McHale as coach.

Although many fans blame McHale for the Timberwolves woes, the real culprit is Owner Glen Taylor. It is safe to say that if Glen Taylor ran is envelope company like he runs his Minnesota Timberwolves, he would not be able to afford the ultimate rich boy's toy, a professional sports team. It was Taylor's decision to break NBA rules that really hurt the his team. Losing all those first round draft picks hurt the Timberwolves chances of turning the corner and becoming a top level franchise.

Baseball Hall of Fame (or Shame)?

Baseball writers will soon be voting for eligible players to be enshrined in Baseball's Hall Of Fame. I'm always surprised why some players get elected to the Hall and their equals do not. How can it be that four players whose careers crossed paths for more than 20 years, had nearly identical career records and two are in the Hall Of Fame and two are not.

Don Sutton, Bert Blyleven, Ferguson Jenkins, and Jim Kaat all played for 20+ years and had very similar recors. Sutton and Jenkins are enshrined; Kaat and Blyleven are not.

How can a player such as Gary Carter be elected to the Hall Of Fame and not Jim Rice or Andre Dawson. How can a player who wins back to back MVP awards, Dale Murphy, not get stronger consideration. What about Jack Morris? For 10-12 years, Morris was the most dominant pitcher in baseball. It will be a shame if Morris does not get enshrined.
